Hey, I'm Grace
I'm a Graphic and Web Designer from the North Shore of Oahu. I moved to Santa Barbara, California after high school to study Communications at Westmont College. Communication Studies gave me a deep appreciation for understanding systems and the variety of ways we send messages to different audiences. When approaching a client task, I always make sure to ask detailed questions about the brand and its goals upfront to avoid any potential miscommunication that could cost time, energy and money. Studying Communications has set strengthened my client relationships, writing skills, attention to detail and ability to anticipate different ways my audience might perceive each message.
Growing up, I always enjoyed sketching, watercolor and photography, but I hadn't been able to press into graphic design for lack of resources. During my time in school, I took some digital art classes, landed a few local internships and jobs doing graphic design, and fell in love. Today, I am grateful to have gained almost 5 years of experience and to have had a supportive community surrounding me along the way. Graphic design has been a great way for me to delve into my creative style and exercise new techniques with each task I am given. I am passionate about layout design, illustration, typography, photo editing, logo making, branding, and building relationships throughout the process.
In addition to my interests and skills, something I care for very deeply is social justice. I value a working environment which garners support for those who are not in positions of privilege. It is essential to the health of any company to inspire and encourage diversity and equity of opinions and opportunity. I aspire to work amongst other creative people, to receive and share feedback, and to create a sustainable work-life balance. In every job, I aim to work efficiently, listen well, ask critical questions, understand my audience, thoroughly review my work, and connect with those around me.
